About the Report
The 2025/26 Directors' Fees Report is produced annually by the Institute of Directors in partnership with EY. Now in its 11th year, it draws on responses from 1,158 directors, covering 1,957 organisations and 5,169 directorships from the annual Directors' Fees Survey. It offers insights on board remuneration and practice across sectors, sizes and governance structures.

Key Findings 2025
Median fee for non-executive directors rose 7.4% to $53,700. Director satisfaction dropped to 58.1%. Average hours decreased to 161. Gender pay gap narrowed to 2.4%. More than half of directors appointed through referrals from current board members.

IoD members who participated in survey: $525 + GST. IoD members who did not participate: $1,015 + GST. Non-IoD members who participated: $750 + GST. Non-IoD members who did not participate: $1,450 + GST. Hardcopies incur additional $100 + GST fee.
